We recognize and acknowledge their pain and fatigue over the injustices they face daily. We must look deep inside as we search our souls and bring into the light the ways we’ve ducked from opportunities to stand up against racism and discrimination. This cannot be a short term or fleeting effort, but the kind of core commitment that requires a long obedience in the same direction. It will involve the difficult work of learning and reading, repenting and uprooting, befriending and empowering. We will listen. We will act. We must never stop trying to steer our society toward tolerance, inclusion, harmony — and justice for all.
