There’s No Place for Hate or Discrimination in our Society

Our nation and many of our cities have been torn apart not just by the events of recent days, but by decades of racial inequity and discrimination. As America’s largest women-owned, national full-service law firm, Culhane Meadows PLLC has a relentless commitment to the rightful equality and opportunity for all people, regardless of their gender, ethnic identity, social background, orientation, or religious creed. There is absolutely no place in our society for racism, hate, or discrimination — and silence in the public square on these topics can reasonably be interpreted as indifference. As lawyers, we swore an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution, and thereby accepted a solemn duty to protect the inalienable rights afforded to every American. We serve in a profession that embraces words like “justice,” “due process,” and “equity,” yet we know that for too many in our communities, especially our Black citizens and people of color, the system has failed them time and again. We recognize and acknowledge their pain and fatigue over the injustices they face daily. We must look deep inside as we search our souls and bring into the light the ways we’ve ducked from opportunities to stand up against racism and discrimination. This cannot be a short term or fleeting effort, but the kind of core commitment that requires a long obedience in the same direction. It will involve the difficult work of learning and reading, repenting and uprooting, befriending and empowering. We will listen. We will act. We must never stop trying to steer our society toward tolerance, inclusion, harmony — and justice for all.
