International Women’s Day: Culhane Meadows supports the #ChooseToChallenge campaign

This year’s call to action for International Women’s Day on March 8th is to #ChooseToChallenge inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world. Culhane Meadows is the largest national, full-service women-owned (WBE) law firm in the country, and we proudly recognize and honor the female members  of the firm’s leadership team, Kelly Rittenberry Culhane, Heather Clauson Haughian, and Kimberly Verska, for their continued efforts to pave the way to equality and for breaking the glass ceiling in the field of law.

While many law firms talk about diversity and inclusion and breaking the glass ceiling, Culhane Meadows has already moved the needle. In 2019, female attorneys at the firm made 4% more than their male counterparts and in 2020 that percentage jumped to 21%. Additionally, 33% of its attorneys and 60% of its equity partners are women (over three times the average for other national firms). Women also serve in the chair position of more than half of the firm’s standing committees and also lead approximately half of our practice groups.

As a WBE law firm, Culhane Meadows is also a member of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) and Women Owned Law (WOL). The firm and its partners regularly volunteer with religious, community, civic and cultural organizations on a pro bono basis. The firm has been recognized by Working Mother magazine among the “Best Law Firms for Women” for all three years of the firm’s eligibility (i.e., when it surpassed the 50-attorney headcount). In recognition of our outside-the-box business model, Law.com recently named Culhane Meadows as one of seven firms that is “moving the needle on innovation.” As part of its commitment to increasing diversity in the legal marketplace, Culhane Meadows recently retained Diverse Talent, LLC, a recruiting firm that specializes in the promotion and placement of women and minority candidates.
