Matthew Harper has been helping clients protect their intellectual property interests for more than 15 years. His experience includes handling all aspects of intellectual property disputes, including litigation in federal courts across the United States, as well as inter parties review (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Mr. Harper has first-chaired litigation in high-stakes patent and trademark disputes, and also brings significant experience with trade secret and other complex commercial matters.
His practice also includes due diligence and audits on IP portfolios as a preventive measure to better protect his clients’ positions in the marketplace. Mr. Harper’s clients have included large corporations, as well as mid-size companies and entrepreneurs in emerging markets.
Mr. Harper earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering Science from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and his technical education and background has allowed him to handle different matters in a variety of technological arts. His prior in-house experience as Sr. IPR Litigation Counsel at Nokia gives him a unique perspective on the business considerations of patent law, plus a well-developed understanding of telecommunications and patents that are essential to standards-settings bodies.
His prior experience as a partner at Dentons and Thompson & Knight ensures Mr. Harper’s clients still receive big-firm service and experience, combined with Culhane Meadows’ emphasis on delivering individual client attention within a more collaborative and efficient business model. In March 2017, Mr. Harper was appointed as an Advisory Board Member for the Computer Science and Engineering Departments at Southern Methodist University.
Matt played linebacker on the Trinity University football team, and now enjoys outdoor activities with his family, as well as immersing himself in a good book.
