Culhane Meadows named one of Best Places to Work by Atlanta Business Chronicle

Culhane Meadows, the largest full-service national women-owned law firm in America, has been named one of Atlanta’s “Best Places to Work” in Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 17th annual ranking of metro area companies. This exclusive list recognizes organizations in the Atlanta area for having created an exceptional workplace culture that their team members value highly.

“As a law firm that was born from the promise of giving our attorneys a better and more flexible way to practice law, we are thrilled to be recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of the Best Places to Work this year,” says Kimberly Verska, the firm’s Atlanta Managinng Partner and CIO.

Notably, Culhane Meadows is one of just three law firms chosen as a 2020 “Best Place to Work” from more than 500 total applicants across all industries. The applicants were evaluated and ranked across four categories according to the number of Atlanta area personnel. This year’s results highlight Culhane Meadows’ partner satisfaction in six key engagement areas including: team dynamics, trust in leadership, communication and resources, manager effectiveness, and personal engagement.

“Our firm proudly lives out our four core values on a daily basis, including Collaboration, Innovation, Transparency, and Integrity,” says co-founder and CFO Jim Meadows. “This award is great recognition of our committment to having a supportive and fun working environment, and we are equally dedicated to providing our clients with an exceptional value proposition for legal services.”

Culhane Meadows is debt-free due to its low-overhead structure and despite the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 crisis, the firm has made no changes to partner or staff compensation. Firm management credits its distributed or cloud-based infrastructure with ensuring Culhane Meadows was ahead of the technology curve and well-positioned to weather the current financial downturn.

“Unlike so many law firms today,” notes co-founder and CTO Heather Haughian, “Culhane Meadows was built as and continues to operate from a fully-remote platform. With more than 70 attorneys operating in eleven markets, the firm and its partners remain stable thanks to our established and secure remote-work technology that equips our team to deliver uninterrupted, client-focused, legal counsel while other firms are still scrambling to adapt.”

Culhane Meadows’ clients, including numerous Fortune 1000 companies, are experiencing business as usual in their dealings with the firm, receiving sophisticated legal counsel from a diverse group of experienced attorneys, all of whom joined the firm from BigLaw or the legal departments of large corporations.

In fact, the firm continues to grow despite the COVID-19 disruption. “Since the pandemic started, we’ve already added three lateral BigLaw attorneys to our roster,” reports co-founder and national recruiting coordinator Grant Walsh. “Plus, we’re actively interviewing more candidates with BigLaw experience who are attracted to the superior flexibility of our full-time remote work model, coupled with the financial transparency of our generous formula-based compensation system.”

Winners of the prestigious Best Places to Work award were honored by Atlanta Business Chronicle at an event held virtually on September 24, 2020.
