There’s growing problem in the world of electronic sales and marketing:  fake endorsements.  With the rise of electronic and social media, fraudulent endorsements have risen, too.  Now a tsunami of fake endorsements has begun to threaten the consumer trust on which e-commerce must rely.  Now, some companies are even creating whole portfolios of fake buyers, fake reviewers, fake online accounts, fake endorsements, fake “likes” and fake “followers.”  And not only for themselves: the creation of fake endorsements for clients has become a business in and of itself.  In these two recent cases, the FTC takes it on.
